This is the third installment in a series highlighting the basketball teams participating in The Bank of Missouri Heartland Hoopfest 2008.

Perryville High School lost by just two points to Ste. Genevieve High School in last year's The Bank of Missouri Heartland Hoopfest. This year, the contest will be between Perryville and Cape Central High School.

Perryville High School basketball team and coach, Joel Roth, is defending a Jefferson County Conference 2007 season of four wins and five losses. They struggled with a season of 6 and 18 last season.

With the return of seven lettermen, including seniors Brent Roth, Wade Leible, and Tyson Brown, Coach Roth expects to play hard against Cape Central High School.

"We are patient on offense, we work the ball inside to the bigger kids," exclaims Roth, "shot selection is very key for us." Roth continues, "Our defensive play is solid man-to-man coverage. Making players shoot contested shot, forcing rebounds while not giving up offensive boards is our style of play."

It will be a tough match-up however against the 12-15 Cape Central Tigers. Drew Church, boy's basketball coach, claims that their style of play is to just get out there and play hard. The Tigers have three returning lettermen this season and look forward to another successful season in the Southeast Missouri Conference.

This game between Perryville High School and Cape Central High School will take place at the Perry Park Center at 12:40 p.m. It will be followed by the game between Jackson High School and Whitfield High School at 2:15 p.m. Information on this game will be coming your way next week.
